I searched high and low for this photograph when I uploaded THE 1985 CLOCK SERIES last November.  I knew Ms. Martin had posed with the Clock in '85 but it was nowhere in the "Clock" archives.  Well...I found it today: February 16,2009.   I was going through the pictures that made it but were damaged by my house fire and there was Sandy all wet and gooey, but not burned.   I took a hairdryer to it and after an hour it was ready to scan and send to my web master.  Its funny--I was thinking about Martin today after seeing her as a non-English speaking cancer victim on an episodic last night.  Sandy is a powerhouse and I have known and loved her since 1979.   She always worked and did theater and directed and produced theater and bought and sold houses and generally was and is a swirling, fiery planet of creative energy. 

It was Sandy who found Ten Bungalows.  She and Alley Mills were the first people I knew that lived there back in the 1970's.  They took an apartment that Bill Murray was moving out of.  Most of the other Bungalows at the time were filled with aging retired actors.  Once Sandy moved in, she started bringing in friends as apartments became available until all Ten Bungalows were filled with people who knew each other.  It was in 1980 that I moved in and became the unofficial real estate agent for the owner Molly Adams.  It was the happiest 16 years of my life, and I owe that to Sandy as well.

Fool that I can be------ I said no when she called me about doing a role in NAPOLEON DYNOMITE.  I had some convention I was booked at in Dayton or Cleveland or wherever the hell it was and I missed being with Sandy in this Huge Cult Hit!  She was working steady but it seemed all hell broke loose after that movie and now Sandy has recurring roles all over the place and NEVER stops working.  You much catch her on HBO's "BIG LOVE".   She is a true animal lover---Dogs in particular.  She has never had less than three at a time and often more and then there are cats as well!  She is a big- time proponent of rescuing animals and has placed countless animals in loving homes.   She is a people person too, mind you.  Sandy has given some of the best parties I have ever attended and I have been to quite a few parties in my day.  She can tell lots of stories about me too.  Sandy knows the dirt on Glenn.  Of all the good friends I have had over the years, Sandy Martin has proved to be the most loyal in a very real way.  Everyone who knows her says the same thing about her loyalty.  When others back away at the horrors, Sandy stands firm and is there for you.  A damn rare quality anywhere, but in Show Business in Hollywood?  Sandy Martin is truly one of a kind.  If she loves you she loves you whether you are up or down, rich or living in your car. You get The picture. And I'm glad I got the picture above----I was afraid it went up in smoke with most everything I owned as well as my beautiful Victorian home.  Finding this picture made my WEEK!!  I love you Martin!  And feel like a proud older brother when I talk about you.  Keep on tearing up Tinseltown!
