Mink
Stole
Mink Stole is not "cheap". I want to make
that clear. This marvelous woman was, however, listening to The Cowboy
Junkies' "Cheap is How I Feel" as I took photographs on the afternoon of
April 27th 1990. I met Mink in 1989 through a mutual friend we knew as
"Needless Tirade". Needless' whereabouts are not now known to either
Mink or me. Thankfully, Mink and I have remained good friends. I have a
wonderful portrait of Mink in ceramic by the artist Phillip Mayberry that
hangs in my home in Toluca Lake. Miss Stole is originally from Baltimore
and has appeared in every one of John Waters feature films. I must
admit to knowing all of her character's dialogue from "Female Trouble".
I should think that qualifies me as a hard core Mink Stole fan. This
past August Mink hosted a memorable "White Trash" birthday party complete
with Designer White Trash Laundry and (delicious) Trailor Park Cuisine.
Mink has just finished her co-starring role in "But I'm A Cheerleader"
with Cathy Moriarty and Bud Cort. You should check out her Advice Column
in GLUE and visit her incredible web site at http://www.minkstole.com
