My dear Savannah. When this photograph was taken I had just received some very disappointing news and Miss Boucher arrived for the sitting in time to give comfort and council. On that day our real friendship began.We met in October 1988 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on the set of a movie called "Meet The Applegates". We played characters who were both put in pods by large South American Insects bent on taking over the world. Ah ... an actor's life.
Savannah Boucher is an actress and a Southern Woman. She is passionate. She is tremendously talented. She is funny. She is loyal. She dances like a Possessed Pagan Goddess. She loves life and is ferocious in her enjoyment. Her voice makes me drunk. I love to call Savannah very early in the morning. She greets the day before dawn and the sound of her hello can change my darkest mood. Twice she has stepped in between me and disaster. Or is it twenty times? Or a hundred?
On October 19, 1990 Savannah was listening to Randy Newman's ode to her home state "Louisiana" as I took the photograph above.
