Diane
Tune
Diane Tune is from the little town of
Falkville Alabama--an hour northwest of Birmingham. We met at Birmingham
Southern College in 1974. She was an art major and I was a drama student.
Diane had access to a family home near the college and played host to a
rag tag gang of actors, artists and free spirits. After college Diane returned
to the farm in Falkville and took care of her ailing father until his death
in 1991. On a visit to Hollywood in 1990 I took this photograph while
Diane was listening to "Sugar in My Bowl" by Bessie Smith. In 1997 the
delightful Miss Tune was lured to California and is currently
living on a ranch in Latigo Canyon. Her friends here have proclaimed her
a Californian and refuse to entertain the notion of her returning to Alabama
for more than a week. Diane is on a search and those who love her are determined
she conduct it on the west coast.
